All in a Day’s Detours

Detours. Road construction. Orange cones and broken asphalt push us onto the unfamiliar. Gravel pops underfoot and lifting dust into our eyes. Our nostrils tickled to a sneeze.

Yet all is temporary. The mess is the process. Forming concrete, paint drying grays to yellow and landscaping green all new. Pastel petals blinking in non-electric neons of purple, blue, & green.

The music comes next. Melodic harmonies in 9ths and 13ths. Sweet candied aromas, syrupy, sticky in our taste buds, alive.

I feel alive.
