Eastside Bridge

The infamous border.

Some LA purists have taken on the fight to enforce the true East LA border which is crossed as one passes the Los Angeles River eastward. Thinking of this as I stopped to take the above picture, thoughts ran.

Running thoughts as I stare at the infamous line. Are borders created to keep people out or in? Canada north, Mexico, south, this side, that side–the “other” side. Where do imaginary lines begin dividing; how do they separate; how early do the words speak the unspoken? Do political or geographic maps change in geologic or human time? Do borders ever end? West LA, south LA, east LA?
